We purposefully named this one the Secret Weapon Smoothie because we didn't want anyone to judge a book by it's cover.
Yup, I said. We put squash in our smoothies and it is DELICIOUS. Don't knock it until you try it!
The key to adding this secret weapon to smoothies is that it needs to be frozen. I like to slice my zucchini into rounds and drop them into a gallon freezer bag. When you freeze squash and then add it to your smoothies it resembles the texture of a banana.
Plus, the taste is so incredibly neutral that even the pickiest of eaters can't tell it's there. I do like to add 1/2 banana, dates, or some other fruity sweetness to round out the smoothie.
I'll go as far as to say that our Secret Weapon Smoothie reminds me of a classic Wendy's frosty. Except it's a million times better for you!!
Secret Weapons Smoothie
1.5 cups milk
1 cup zucchini squash, frozen
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 scoop chocolate plant-based protein
- Put all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 1 minute.
- Add more liquid if needed to reach desired consistency.
